Magdalene knows very little about herself, the world and her parents. She knows her mother’s name was Caroline, but has never met her, and has only ever heard her mother referenced as a “abomination” just like her father was, but she doesn’t know anything about him either, not even a name. She knows her grandfather’s name was Anthony Dornbos, and she is his granddaughter Magdalene Dornbos and that she is twenty six years old. She knows there is some kind of world outside, but has never seen it because the window in her room has always been boarded up. She has never felt the sun, never felt grass between her toes or felt the wind on her face. She doesn’t know she’s a werewolf, or that there are other creatures out there like her. She does know she lives in some place called New Greenwich, but that’s all she knows about her location. She has grown up surrounded by the same four blank walls and old twin cot in the corner her entire life and knows nothing else.
What Magdalene doesn’t know is that her grandfather Anthony escaped with his daughter Caroline from the Farm when Caroline was eight. He had planned his risky escape for many years, but it did not go as perfectly as he had planned, for he was unable to bring Caroline's mother. He hadn't loved her, but he had promised her freedom with their child, and in the end was unable to keep that promise. He fled to the woods and lived on edge, moving from spot to spot for years until he felt he and Caroline were as safe as they possibly could be. However Anthony discarded his daughter when she was thirteen when he discovered she had magic, something Caroline had tried desperately to hide. He was too disgusted with her to allow her in his presence, his hatred for non-humans so strong he couldn't even accept his own daughter. Caroline was strong however, and she found her way in the world and found safety with others of her kind. However, Caroline came to him when she was twenty and begged for his help, telling him that she had become pregnant, was afraid and had spent months searching for him. There was some softness left in Anthony for his daughter, especially after so many years of her absence, and he allowed her to stay with him, having built a shabby cabin deep in the woods where he had felt the safest.
Caroline gave birth in the dark, biting down on fabric to muffle her screams. It was grueling and she was in labor for what felt like ages, but at the end she saw her father hold her daughter and smile. This gave her hope that her father would understand what she had done…and admitted that the child’s father was a werewolf and that there was some possibility the baby could someday be a werewolf as well. Anthony was repulsed, and he all but shoved the child back in Caroline’s arms. He berated her and called the child an abomination and Caroline a whore. He wanted her out of his sight, but didn’t abandon Caroline or make her leave that night. Instead he went to sleep and woke up the next day to see his daughter gone, and his granddaughter left bundled behind.
He wanted to kill the child, but since there was a possibility she could be human and untouched from her parent’s taint, he kept her and named her Magdalene. He struggled to care for the child, and many times he thought she would die, but she was strong like her mother and survived. Time passed, and the Resistance rose. He was found by some of the Resistance's members, and aided the group by teaching them the ways of the woods and lended his skills in building in return for supplies. However his years of isolation gave him comfort, and other then the aid he gave he did not involve himself further, not wishing himself to be found by the creatures of the city.
At first, life was “normal” for Magdalene. Anthony was not a warm or caring person, but he treated his granddaughter well enough in the beginning, other than the fact he wouldn’t allow her outside. He kept her locked in a room, afraid any moment she would turn into a beast or show affinity for magic. He fed her well, allowed her toys he made from wood and cloth and told her stories of the evil monsters that lived outside their home. She tried asking questions about her mother and father, but Anthony would always grow cross with her and told her that her parent's were abominations. She never understood what that meant, but he insisted she was to hate them.
As Magdalene neared puberty, Anthony noticed the changes. She started to eat much more, became stronger and the last straw for him was when she accidentally fell and cut her hand and it healed perfectly in such a short time. His behavior towards her grew extremely cold and he started to feed her less and reinforced her door and put several heavy bolts on it. Then one day the full moon came and she shifted, a horrible memory she still has nightmares about. After that happened her life became utter misery as her grandfather became obsessed with trying to remove the werewolf part of her through different so called “therapies”.
He would starve her for days on end and give her no water. He’d beat her with hot rods, belts, wooden planks, hammers and other items. He also at a time thought if he injured her enough her body would no longer be able to heal, exhaust itself and in turn exhaust her wolf counterpart, which never actually worked but he insisted in stabbing her arms and legs and other horrible things regardless. She quickly wasted away to be nothing but skin and bones, spending her days lying and staring blankly at the ceiling. She learned to keep her mouth shut and learned crying only angered her grandfather and made things worse. She was broken, and yet somehow she managed to hold on for so many years. He never told her she was a werewolf, only ever said she was an evil abomination. She didn’t understand why every full moon she changed or why her human body had changed. She eventually stopped caring to know and just accepted what her grandfather told her.
Then one night it happened. In the past few years her grandfather had taken on the nasty habit of drinking, having begun to visit the city for supplies once he heard that humans had been freed. On the day of the full moon he started drinking in the late afternoon and became belligerent. He undid the bolts of Magdalene’s room without thinking and started to scream and hit her. But the full moon loomed close, and when it came she shifted and killed him without a second thought. When she woke up in the morning the cabin was destroyed from the inside….and all the blood. She couldn’t even identify that the body was her grandfather, but she knew it had to be him. She was covered in his blood and horrified by what she had done, she ran. She didn’t know what direction to go or where she might end up, but she couldn’t stay there and fled into the forest of a world she didn’t know.
Magdalene has never had any friends. Even before her grandfather began abusing her, he was not especially kind or warm. She doesn’t know what it means to have someone as a friend to laugh with, lean on, share your feelings with and carry on conversations…for all she knows every person in the world hates her like her grandfather did. She does need friends however, people to show her a little kindness and help her learn how to be a wolf and how to assimilate in the world. She isn’t used to compassion, so it will take her time to learn there is good in people.
Magdalene has never been out in the world before, so she currently has no enemies and has no intentions in making any. She feels no antagonistic feelings towards any species or group, and as a people pleaser she does her absolute best to avoid confrontation. However she is clueless about pretty much everything, from social etiquette to basic history, so it isn’t unlikely she could rub someone the wrong way and cause issues because of her lack of manners or knowledge.
Magdalene has never been shown true love or affection, so she doesn’t know what it feels like to love someone or be loved and because of this people may perceive her as stand offish or emotionless. Her isolation has kept her from experiencing a first kiss or a first crush, and she has never even been taught what sex is or how babies are made. She is very innocent and childlike, and has a long way to go before she can understand what it’s like to have those types of feelings for someone.

Whoo! Congratulations on having your character accepted! We can't wait to see what they have in store for us. Be sure to post to any and all claims which you can see listed below. Welcome to Ferocious!
I'll preface this with another apology that I am a little swamped on threads at the moment but if you were keen we could do something potentially shorter/quicker about 200 or so words just to see how these two could possibly work?
You mention that Mags kind of needs friends... Gabriel kind of could do with meeting a few wolves, perhaps to assuage his prejudice of them. However I'm not sure if so close to Mags freedom, you (or her) would be happy to tolerate a vampire. She requires patience, he has little to give on first glance, though if they do manage past (m)any hurdles he is at least a steadfast and loyal friend. Just like a dog. With fangs.
Anyway, no hard feelings if it's something you're not keen on, but if you are; awesome!
It would be very interesting for Magdalene to meet a vampire! She's never heard of vampires before and has no prejudice towards them, so she would actually be quite fascinated once she understands what she is and that there are other creatures out there as well.
At first glance he might be an arrogant turd, but he’s not without a heart and if she genuinely was needing assistance or some kind of thing he wouldn’t turn his back on her unless she was openly rude/disrespectful/prejudiced – curse his conscience etc... So long as she can tolerate (or shoot back) his immature quips about dog jokes etc… The guy once held a healthy fear of wolves, so he really has had very little contact with them over the years - he's freaking clueless.
Is there anywhere in particular Mags frequents? Or will do once she’s established herself? Gabe can be pretty transient about the city, though his home base of operations is Uptown for work and Downtown for home (for a vampire he is slumming it) but he’s not above making his way out anywhere with enough reason.
I'm really bad at doing the plotter things I'm sorry!
Haha any dog jokes will probably go right over her head, so in that way she would tolerate the quips because she wouldn't get them She's probably going to struggle venturing out for a while, she will more than likely stick to the forest and the surrounding area until she becomes more comfortable with people and the world in general. There's water/beach at the edge of the forest, wouldn't be out of the question she'd travel all the way out to it and be kind of close to the waterfront district?
That is fine - I can find reason to have Gabe head out there for begrudging Calpulli reasons so no problem travelling out where Mags might be.
If you're happy for a shorter type thread now I can throw something up soon (shorter being 200-300 words), but if you want a longer one lemme know and I'll throw one up as soon as I wrap one up :) Just let me know which you'd prefer and I'll do the things.
Ayyyyeeee. I saw that Mag lacks the understanding of many joys in life and Alex is known for one thing at least. HAVING A GOOD TIME. He's a real big sweetheart and nothing bothers him. You could insult him and he'll likely just brush it off.
His personality could mingle really well with this poor bean! I'm sure he could get her to laugh at least one. Disregard his flirting though, he means well.
Magdalene absolutely needs some fun in her life, but he may have to explain what fun is to her first Girl doesn't know how to let loose and laugh. I think it would be hilarious to put these two together and see what shenanigans he'd get her into hahahaha!
