What would have one time been a stench, was now a tortuous temptation, the blood which spilt and stained to chained rings of ‘The Pits’. There was no hiding what he was as he watched on at the spectacle as two wolves pummelled fists at each other, both bloody messes as the small crowd gathered cheered on their chosen (hopeful) victor. Fangs drawn, knuckles white as they clasped the railing as if it were the last bastion of control. He shouldn’t have come, too much blood, too much trouble even if his sire’s favoured son seemed to rule the roost here, or at least weasel enough funds through to their shared mistress or whatever their setup here was; Gabriel preferred ignorance where Calpulli business was concerned.

He’d come for a fight, despite lacking any requisite skills for when vampirism had robbed him of magic, he’d simply defaulted to speed and strength to replace telekinesis. It did not make him a great fighter, not even mediocre, hiding behind his sire’s wealth just as he’d once hidden behind magic and luck. A better opponent, an older vampire, he could list the variety who could best him. Gabriel didn’t come to win though, and he knew enough of the faces that trailed past and glanced at him knew who and what he was. Enemies of Calpulli, disgruntled humans still burnt by their injustices or simply those who wanted to watch an immortal bleed. All would take on the smart alec fledgling the moment he opted to put his name into the ring, and if he survived the fight, he had given himself precious little time before dawn would break across the horizon to flee home.

He would lose and how badly came with how long it took him to build the courage to enter the next round, if he would; his sires missive still demanding that he not kill himself or do anything foolish that would harm himself, the latter open to exploit and twisting. After all, he could feign a presumption of victory, a source of income should he prove victorious. Anything had to be easier than facing the life he thought he’d left behind, the one he had all but left behind when they’d bid farewell to the city. Closer to the ring he stepped, pushing past bodies in his bid to throw his name in the ring and see how he fared, would the little cronies his sire had trail him report this back to his maker.

(Open to anyone who wants to fight Gabe, intervene and stop him, drag him away and use as a pawn against Calpulli, whatever.)

It was the sound that got her blood pumping, the only notion she had that her heart still stuffed somewhere in her breast. The thudding drum of flesh on flesh contact, feet in the audience- it was like the beach feeling she used to get half drunk and dancing under neon lights- Kate shifted her weight from foot to foot, anxious in the kind of way animals got before attacking- the type of behavior wrongly seen as fear before the teeth sunk in.

This wasn't the first time she had been to the Pits, but every time she tried to tell herself it was the last. That was one of those lies she told herself to make herself feel better. One of many that didn't do its job real well. She still felt like hot garbage most of the time. Like today she felt a niggling little guilt about how she had all but made a lie of omission to a nice boy the other night about her hobbies. But this want something you bought up in polite company unless you were an absolute crazy person.

But in the ring, she felt truly alive...in control of her life on her terms. Not just going through the motions. She would sooner catch a unicorn than find that anywhere else in her life.

She tightened the cotton wraps around her hands, carefully soaked in kerosene, the kitsune might have been merely hafu by her people's high standards but she knew well enough there wasn't much out there that liked a face full of fire. Which hopefully would make up for the fact she was a slight thing...but her experience they stopped laughing real quick if you knew what you were doing. And she absolutely knew what she was doing.

Kate walked with her head up high as she made her way to the ring, holding her weight down as she weaved through the din of the madding crowd. Tonight was just like any other, she lied to herself again.

“You going in or are ya some chicken shit?” The heavy hand clasped over his shoulder and pulled him near, taunting in his ear whilst Gabriel kept glancing at the ring as the last fighter claimed victory and both were pulled from the cage to the sound of rapturous applause and cheer. One competitor stepped forth, a call for a second fighter erupted in voices eager to take on the figure that had entered the ring. “We got one!” That same hand pulled Gabriel, uncaring and overpowered by the blood which stained the floor for him to offer protest, as he was winched from the crowd and pushed within the ring, a fumbled few steps with the heaving force shoving him in his hole.

Bets were being called as Gabriel stared over at his opponent, her fists bound in cotton with a confidence that was noticeably absent from himself; hunched, weary and bored. For a man looking for a cowards end, he couldn’t offer much fight. The referee came forth to usher both towards the inner circle, Gabriel drawing near and feeling the weight of every pair of eyes glued on him ready for the show. “No fancy rules apply in this ring mmkay, winner gets ten percent.”

Rotund and gruff, another fucking hand clasping his shoulder and patting his back as he raised his voice to begin a countdown from ten. Eyeing his opponent closer, something was amiss, different; he pegged something other than human but without a taste he hadn’t the experience to simply draw that conclusion on face value. Him? The eyes which were aflame in red, the pale skin, the lack of vital signs such as a heartbeat if she was that observant. “Don’t hurt me.” A scoff would follow his remark, lopsided smirk toying on the corner of his lip and steps took back as the countdown drew to two, then one until the bell called out the fight beginning.

Gabriel toyed, circling from the outer ring like an animal watching its prey before he rushed towards with unpredictable and inhuman speed to barrel his weight into the figure seeking to push her back against the chain. Would his sire feel a thing when or if his opponent moved to strike? When his skills were matched and bested and it would inevitably be found that all Gabriel had were nothing more than parlour tricks.

Same old, same old...no holds barred kind of bloodbath. Kate could dig it. Of course, when they pulled in some fresh faced boy into the ring, she couldn't help but snerk...okay so maybe it wasn't fair to underestimate someone after she had her own hangups about the same happening to her. But...come on, this guy was totally a ring virgin, she almost felt a little bad about having to be the one to pop his cherry- the boys would never respect him after all of this. Boo-fucking-hoo. Maybe Kate would have a tasteful funeral for his masculinity after all of this. She sized him up, nose testing the air as her glamoured ears didn't quite show how piqued her attention really was.

A vampire.

Well that explained the turn in the crowd, a thirst for blood that only could come from the realization that two 'slavers' were going to tear each other apart. They wanted to see them kill each other...and the realization struck that there was a good chance the wolves wouldn't let either of them leave the Pit alive. "Shut up." Kate wasn't here to banter, especially while she was thinking about their increased chance of survival. Of course, baby-face here was all blood-crazed and retard strong looking for a fight, which wasn't about to help them any.

The ring of the bell, and she flowed in the ring like smoke...making sure to not allow the vampire any chance to pin her against the turnbuckle. "We gotta get out of here." She spoke her thoughts aloud at the ball of raw instinct in front of her, wondering if he even heard her. Her steps were practiced, as she finally sparred a few testing punches against the green fighter. Half in hopes of snapping him out of it as much as seeing what she was going up against. The crowd roared for more...and she sighed knowing that no matter what she was going to have to make this look good, which meant the next couple of blows were no doubt going to come in hot.

So the diminutive thing could speak, even if the words spat like venom denying Gabriel a chance at banter. Ill-equipped and inexperienced the crowd erupted when he rushed at her, and missed! The snarl which escaped was instinctive, one which he’d have never done as a witch but that part of his life had been progressively fading in recent years till it was now a ghost haunting, plaguing his shadow. “You walked in here.” Pointedly, a finger directed as much as the words which couldn’t escape his hearing as the first few punches came flying.

The first he had the good sense to dodge, with the second he’d raised his arms ready for defence, the third tapped his chin and the crowd went wild. If he had a dollar for every slur he heard them scream, every cheer and insult depending on whom the money had favoured he’d never have to work a day in his potentially long life. He mirrored her punches, stabbing the air more than hitting flesh, holding back on the strength he knew he held by virtue of what he was; she however was not so kind when the din rose again and the next blow smacked with a crushing crack that filled his mouth with blood – his.

He lashed out, not harder but faster, to strike in response as the mess of blood was spat to the wayside - he would take back his share from her veins if he had to. The chorus responded, the ringleader, the announcer offering a spin on their tale as a light brightened across the exit from the cage, step by step encircling the outer rim; UV lamps.

“What the fuck!” He danced around, fear gripping his every movement, every thought as the announcer commanded them to continue and iron spikes were pushed through the cage to keep both of them in the centre. So she wasn’t a witch, she didn’t smell like a wet dog which meant… “It doesn’t matter who wins.” Iron or sunlight would kill the victor. It was what he came for, death or some punishment to dull his consciousness and yet the rage bubbled that it was some rabid wolves running a death match that would be his undoing.

"This isn't a fight...it's an execution."

And it wouldn't have been if the two of them hadn't been pushed into the ring together- Kate scowled, not sure why this idiot wasn't getting it. Maybe because he was new...maybe because he was slow, probably both. But either way, she wasn't going to go down like this. That just wasn't her style. They shadow danced each other around the ring- mirrored each other simply because the hafu wanted to put up appearances as she tested their boundaries. She could care less about the expectations in the ring after this.

In a huff she let loose and finally nailed the vampire in the mouth- red sprayed and the crowd roared- she had drawn first blood and she wasn't particularly pleased by the outcome. The vampire's actions become more desperate, flailing...almost like a drowning man trying to take someone down with him. Which probably should have been a big red warning flag, but her preoccupation came with a flash of lights that blinded her for a moment- it would have been a good time to get a punch in, and Kate hated herself for having a gap in her defenses, but as her vision returned to normal she figured out what had happened in an instant.

She had only been saved by primal horror. the UV lights practically had the ring virgin pacing the ring like a caged tiger. "See?" As if you could reason with these things. "So what? You're just gonna give up?" A snort, Kate simply could not with this, her spine tingled at the presence of so much iron but she wasn't going to let that overwhelm her- though she couldn't help but be thankful that she was just a miserable half breed, her powers were dampened but she wasn't going to outright die from this immediately. She'd suffer a long while.

That was just awesome.

The half-kitsune watched as the barrier pushed forward smiled viciously- "Get in here close, I don't think they can reach us from the middle...they'll have to come in here to get us out..." And then...then she'd have her blood bath, and by that, she meant she was going to get out of here with a fine werewolf coat if she had anything to do with this, and god help vampire boy here if he decided he was just going to roll over and let himself die from UV exposure.

An execution. Her words haunted him as he glanced around the ring of light, cursing himself that he had been reduced to fearing light. Of everything that came bundled with being a vampire, the fact that such a simple, daily occurrence instinctively gripped him with fear was pathetic. He needn’t have ever been burned by it, he just knew to fear it. “No!” Gabriel spat the response as the little fae snorted, blood still staining his lips from where she’d clocked him good and proper, he wasn’t just going to roll over and accept his death; not like this and not from them. He had standards apparently.

The theory worked fine for her, the iron spikes spread around the ring could only extend so far, and pushed against the cage; they’d reached their limit. Him? His predicament wasn’t as forgiving as he glanced skyward hoping that each lamp was fixed in place. “It’ll be dawn soon.” He pressed closer, watching the crowd as their chants become a song; kill kill kill. “I won’t have much choice about what happens when the sun does come up fairy princess.” Quietly informing her of the call for sleep he could not ignore once day broke across the horizon.

“They won’t live past tomorrow night if I die.” For that Gabriel was sure, as much as he was taking a sabbatical from all things related to his sire, the sleight against her power and control by killing her fledgling would not go unpunished. Little consolation as it was to either of them, he still wouldn’t utter her name to try and persuade for his freedom from the cage – too proud, even if it opened the gates.

Gates which soon opened, however briefly as a fighter entered the ring, bulking and towering over them both as the behemoth stalked closer. “You’re both pathetic, just kill each other or I’ll do it for you.” The hulking beast pointed to the edge of the ring as he crept closer. They could just kill the wolf, a dead supernatural was still the show they wanted, so what if it wasn’t two that had previously occupied the top of the food chain. “Do you trust me?” Gabriel scoffed and eyed the fae expectantly, no one would answer in the affirmative, gaze dancing between her and the approaching wolf but he wasn’t going to wait for an answer, he didn’t have the time as the wolf barged at them. “Keep his focus on you!” Gabe didn’t wait, running at the wolf and darting aside at the very last minute to circle to the side, and then behind the fae, creating a blur of confusion before coming up behind the wolf, digging his fangs into its throat.

The taste was nondescript, he was never one to favour wolf but his intent was not to feed; to drain would take time of which they simply did not have as Gabriel dragged his fangs through the flesh tearing until a fist collided with his face and he was sent flying across the ring towards the barrier, a flash of searing light burning skin as soon as it came into contact. Ecstatic barely relayed the roar that filled his ears and drowned his agonising cries as he fumbled forward out of the lamps rays, a bloody mess rising once more to charge ahead.

"Well then we better hurry bitch."

There was almost a fondness that came with the way she said that- but maybe this vampire wasn't one to acknowledge that. Maybe he was. But it probably didn't matter because she had both already offended his sensibilities and popped him in the mouth. Wasn't like she was about to take it personally though- that was his prerogative. Besides...he was right about dawn fast approaching, she'd be fine, but he would practically turn into a pumpkin after the clock tolled five. Yet somehow she was the fairy princess? Rude. Kate smirked, "So what?" Really, life was for the living, and vengeance wasn't something she really was in for...especially if she was already dead. So the boy's insistence their captors would be dead didn't exactly soothe her temper any. "They'd be better dead now." She was a creature that preferred instant gratification...she liked her vengeance not served cold, but hot and red on her knuckles if this was going to be the case.

Some big bastard of a wolf started skulking around the ring, cursing and daring them to continue, and she flashed a toothy smile. Looked as though they had the same idea...great minds and all that. Her response, though short came out like a nasty little purr. "Sure...what the hell." That was to say, no, no she did not trust him, but she could understand him, and that was good enough for her. She knocked her fists together, and they ignited...setting the wrappings around them ablaze, he wanted her to keep the wolf's attention? She had no problem doing that, dancing along with the lummox lumbering its way towards her, knowing damn well she was going to be in a world of hurt if that thing got a grubby paw on her.

The vampire leapt around, nimbly-bimbly like a damn cat before digging his teeth into the beast and Kate cheered...one that choked out in her throat as she noticed the lamps cook him up like fast food. With a screech she rushed towards the wolf and laid hands on him before he could take advantage of the situation- going low to grabble the monster by the midsection and set fire to his clothes...it wasn't elegant, but she was trying to get his attention as fast as she could, and for her trouble, she was flung aside like a rag doll, narrowly missing being impaled by the iron spikes...though she caught her arm with one..."Shit!" That was going to be so infected tomorrow.

It came as a spur to action, her remark failing to offend if that had been her intention, the stirrings of a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips utterly ignorant of the threats each of their lives were in, if not from each other, than the beast stalking forward and the crowd hungry for blood. They’d be better dead now. True, but he was too stubborn and proud to cower down and call his sire and alert her to his predicament, to place him in the position of hapless princess needing a saviour; shit was the stuff of fairy tales.

For a moment in time he’d forgotten the glimpse of flame from the fae’s hands as his own seared with agony, the spark which alighted a sliver of fear as he’d been focused on tearing through as much flesh and sinew as possible, but his fangs were designed to pierce, not utterly destroy and maul. He slowed the wolf temporarily and he’d stoked the flames of war and fury, but they were far from victorious. The burnt skin tried to repair, his bloody, gaping jaw staring at the mess, only a brief flicker of seconds turning flesh charred and black.

He needed blood, and he had just the thing in the ring to provide that, his lapse corrected as the banshee screech of the little fairy girl rushing towards the wolf brought him back to reality, she going low, him…. Well Gabriel lunged and rushed blindly, throwing all his weight into the wolf hoping momentum of the beasts own efforts tossing away the fae like a rag doll would work to his benefit. It worked so far to unbalance the behemoth, those few dangerous steps giving Gabriel purchase with his own strength to twist and fling sending the wolf careening towards the other side of the ring, falling dangerously close to a spike.

“You okay princess?”
He offered quickly as a near forgotten sidenote, turning back to make sure there was not a fae-shaped kebab in the corner before running down the wolf once more before it got to its feet. Gabriel didn’t care what part of the wolf would meet the spike – head, neck or chest – all would sufficiently put the pup down. Such a waste of blood.

At least that had that in common, stubborn pride. It was the same reason that Kate wasn't going to back down or surrender- she had made it through worse than this, and like hell she was going to let some mangy dogs take her down and she wasn't going to let this crispy critter take her with him. So even if he hadn't towed the line, she was pretty certain that she would have figured out something, but it was always better to have somebody watch your back when you were up to your eyeballs in straight bullshit.

Sick. As the sad sack vampire looked over at her, she had sort of wished she hadn't gotten a good eyeful of him, because yeesh...somebody looked a hot boo-boo mess and she wasn't sure if she should tell him. So she kept her expression neutral, no need to panic him, he had to feel it right? You know, that he looked like post acid Harvey Dent. She would have been lying if she didn't say she was kinda curious about watching that grow back.

But her morbid fascination would have to wait, because she wasn't going to let that wolf maul him while he was down, and she tried, oh my god, did she try to keep the beast at bay, but not even fire did the trick for the long haul, instead she found herself careening into pointed danger, and yet she wasn't as done in as she originally assumed she would be. "Yeah...I'm fine. GET HIM!" It was a kind gesture to ask, but she wasn't having it right now, but how rich was it he was asking her?

The hafu sighed and pulled herself up to her feet, finally daring to touch the wound along her shoulder with a hiss...iron, she hadn't dealt with it much, but now having dealt with it, she was pretty sure that she didn't want to do it ever again. Somewhere in the back of her mind she wanted to lick at it, but as she was, it wasn't an option. But her focus stayed put on that as the squelching sound of a werewolf got impaled against the spikes...a gesture that quieted the crowd in stunned silence. "Ugh..." About time, she looked at the vampire and smirked, offering him a less injured arm to lean on.

"Let's get the hell out of here."

The glare that summed up “I’m doing it!” met the order to take care of the wolf, he was just being courteous. After all he supposed she could have waited out in the corner for one or the other to tear each other to shreds and just pick up whatever mangled and damaged flesh suit remained to claim her victory prize. Risky given the crowds apparent taste for violence and chances, because killing two supes would vindicate centuries of slavery. If he recalled correctly it was the humans who had taken to hunting down his former kind under the wishy washy guise of sky monkeys dictating orders but hey, whatever helped them sleep at night he supposed.

Amidst the sensation of flesh scorched and searing from bone (even if it was technically still attached), he didn’t have the strength or even gall to try for anything above the shoulders. Fingers clawing deep pushed and pulled, the iron spike finding exact precision somewhere in the nape of the wolves neck, left, right, centre, who knew. The gaping hole widening like ahhh as the tip made clear its exit point in a bloody spectacle with a side of random sinew and cartilage. Of course, the wolf thrashed against the vampire as began the gamble of what would come first; choking on ones own blood or the excruciating agony of being impaled through the neck.

He wasn’t proud of what he did next, but he did it anyway while the wolf still had a beating heart, taking a wrist, since the was currently sharing space with an iron rod, digging his fangs in to take what he could to heal his burns. It sure as fuck wasn’t a mercy kill and Gabriel wasn’t offering any kind of mind fuck to make anything feel even remotely painless.

The crowd was displeased, enough to earn a bemused laugh as he used the sleeve of his charred hand to wipe away the smears of blood that hadn’t already dried and clung to his face. “You better get our share of the winnings…I burned for this.” He muttered, exploiting the offer of aide at least momentarily until the gate unlocked and they were free, a nod to chivalry as he waited after the fairy princess. “I would have had that in five seconds if I still had magic.” Masculine pride, redundant as it were, needing its assertion as he made his way out of the ring, following the fae because some part of him owed her a debt to make sure she at least got out of there, what she did after wasn’t his responsibility.

"This better not scar..."

Kate muttered to herself as her former sparring partner did the heavy lifting so to speak, in the killing department, she'd have stressed it, but seemed to her that vampire boy had everything well in hand, at least if sound effects were any indication. Gross. She never liked when blood suckers did what they had to do, maybe because they always tried to make it a sex thing...so in the back of her mind, she couldn't help but think homeboy here was screwing the pooch. Now wasn't that uncouth. Yet she was the one picking at and lamenting a scabbing wound, so she couldn't judge all that much.

Maybe a little. But not THAT much. But it was gonna take a bit more care than sucking off a dude to make her wound better. The beast roared, not wanting to go quietly into that dark night, and while it raged and raged...she just rolled her eyes. Callous? Well, he had been trying to kill her first, so no, she wasn't exactly in the market for offering mercy or pity in a 'us or them' situation. She could wrestle with a moral conundrum later, if at all. But this had been a trying situation at all levels, and she simply could not. "Yeah yeah yeah...I'm getting there." She hoisted him up a little in her free arm, stronger than she looked only because she was nothing if not pure sinewy muscle. But she knew where the purse collection was, and god help anyone if they got in their way.

She was ready to sink her own fangs into something or someone right about now. "You're new at this aren't you?" The way he hung on to fragile ego, she could only imagine...new vampire, new to the ring that and he was sort of a shitty at both if you asked her. The crowd parted as the two of them walked, slinging insults and tossing things, but after their alpha fighter had been taken down they weren't shit but hos and tricks. Throwing her weight (however nonexistent) around she shoved a wolf and eyed him down. "The money. Cough it up, or you're next." Begrudging the beast handed it over, but he had always been a bit of a wet noodle as far as weres went.

"Here...just take it, and don't...don't come back."

The hafu smiled in a way that was half a snarl, "I can't promise that Gideon." She snapped her teeth and then glanced back at the vampire, "Let's bounce, this place is totally lame." Kate dangled the bag like it was a cat toy, stringing the boy along to follow as she went out the exit to the alleyway adjacent.

Until you read between the lines the question was harmless enough, but the words held their own punch that Gabriel didn’t exactly appreciate, call it pride, call it fragile smashed to shit ego. “New to what?” The ring? Of course, he’d been raised a spoilt little witch all too eager to rely on his abilities to land him on his feet and without them he struggled, what came with vampirism wasn’t nearly as potent in his esteemed opinion on magic users verse corpses. When that was coupled with stubbornness, it was a given he was making for a rather useless vampire.

The threat to the purse strings was… surprisingly effective. With the fairy princess fussing over some cut and Gabe, admittedly looking a lot worse than he felt, neither had to be threatening but when the money was handed over he made sure to note the name should he decide to go tattling to his mommy to exact his vengeance.

She snapped her teeth like an angry Chihuahua which had Gabriel begging which one of the two, Fairy Princess or Gideon were the animal… and was it something he was expected to do? He wasn’t. “Yeah, lame, that really is going to hurt their feelings.” Because nothing said fuck you to the organisers as much as the remark which sounded like a teenage girl had sprouted the opinion. Finally free of the crowd, the quiet of night outside a comfort he was grateful for as he began to inspect his hands. The blood had healed a little, enough that veins and nerves were no longer singed and exposed, but it would take a lot to heal it.

“Thanks.”
The gratitude came after the longest silence, more concerned with his singed skin and brush with the sun. “For not killing me… again.” It wasn’t fun the first time round right? Why the fuck then had entered the ring then if not to test fate and end his life, who knew. Maybe it was a lesson learnt, but probably not. “I can, fix that, if you want.” Finger pointing with a half shrug noncommittedly at her arm. “Walking band aid.” Well, his blood. A lightbulb flashed on in his head as the hand that pointed stayed out, raised and expectedly. “My share, fixing these burns won’t be cheap.Cough up princess.”

"Everything?"

If this vampire was expecting some iota of tact, he was looking at the wrong fox...that was for goddamn sure. But Kate was always a straight shooter when it came to situations that seemed very deep but were usually surprisingly shallow. To hell with the consequences and his foolish pride. But if she had to guess, someone had traded down and had some buyers regret. She almost would have felt bad for him if she didn't get the distinct impression that he was a bit of a douchebag- still she wasn't heartless, her brows knitted in minute concern for the crispy critter- he probably would have saved his complexion if he still had a pulse.

So she got it in her head that she'd do her version of a good deed, and threaten a man for money they didn't completely deserve...as luck would have it, she had given this guy the business a few times for trying to scrimp on her cut. So no, Kate came at him like a vicious animal, because at some wyld level she was. "Whatever, we got the purse, you gonna bitch about leaving or you wanna stay?" She knew exactly how she sounded, and she didn't care, but right about now, she didn't like his tone. Ungrateful much? Rude. Kate rolled her eyes and tossed the wad of money his way.

"De nada."

It wasn't his cut, but the whole shebang, in her opinion he might have needed it more than her, and anyways, she had what she was after...a life affirming encounter. She stretched arching her back and taking in the cool night air with a smirk. What could make someone feel more alive than charity right? Oh yeah, not dying as dog food. So you know she was two for two. "We should probably get you somewhere before you...what is it...sleep? Go on stand by? I honestly don't know how that works." That much was a given, because there was no way she was going to carry this guy downtown. That just sounded like way too much work. She put up a finger, "Then we can talk triage, and maybe some aloe...for you, because you look like someone threw up beef jerky." A flash of an all too toothy smile, but she wasn't certain that Mr. Man here had much in ways of a sense of humor, but she was going to keep going until something stuck.

Teeth clenched and grated upon each other as Gabe bit back the barb that would flow if he opened his mouth, the icy stare matched with the locked jaw said enough. Fuck her, what did she have exactly that didn’t clearly require some petrol and a match. He had done the hard yards, burnt for their freedom, killed a damned wolf which in itself probably was going to lend to some sort of retaliation if anyone had the good sense to recognise him and put a name to a face. They wouldn’t get far with his reluctant ties to the mafia, but there he was pausing on notions of protection from an organisation and a woman he’d shunned. Idiot.

Stay? No, he didn’t want to stay, it wouldn’t take long for the crowd to chant for more, for stragglers to wander out and hunt them down drunk on their own inflated sense of ability to take on a vampire and… whatever it was that she was. “I’m not a charity.” As he caught the wad of cash with such ease, noting the bound bundles, picking out what was assumedly roughly half and tossing the remainder back at her. “What are you?” Ignorant of how rude the query may be, the curiosity begged an answer. “And don’t say fae, I already know that.” Before her smart assed mouth could point out the obvious. No, Gabe wanted details, particulars.

The heaving sigh escaped his lips, entirely unnecessary for living function, but warranted given the frustration. Stand by? Did he look like a fucking television? “I retire for the day.” Was about all she needed to know about what he did or more precisely did not do during the day. “But if we stand out here too much longer I’m sure you’re bound to get a demonstration...” Along with a side of not-quite-human combustion. “…So yeah, lets’ go.” When she propped up a finger to shh, to silence him, the glare returned again and shortly after his own finger raised, but it wasn’t quite the same one she had used; something a little more in the vein of fuck you. See how long she kept smiling then.

“Aloe isn’t going to help me you realise?” He started walking, brisk and paced simply because he could feel the dawn approaching in his bones, his brush with the sun scarring and lending weight to already established fears. He didn’t even know if he was walking in the direction to his home, hers or somewhere entirely different - as long as it was away from where they were.

“If we find a blood bank or a destitute enough person to pay off it will help… I’m told.” Blood was life so naturally it was a given it too would heal and repair, he just desperately needed more than his usual fill to fix this. “Unless you want to earn some extra cash?” Did it sound as offensive as he imagined it to be? Gabe could only guess but for a brief moment in time he wasn’t making apologies for what he was, and he sure as shit didn’t want to walk around as he was now. “And I can fix that in return.” Which in comparison, the poor fairy had only a little scratch, nothing a little blood couldn’t fix.
